The former Signetics and Philips Semiconductor building at 811 East Arques in Sunnyvale was transformed into Lowe’s

From demolition in April 2005 to near completion in April 2006

Scroll down to see the progression!

“The old Signetics building, 811 East Arques, April 30, 2005. Looking towards the Northeast from Wolfe Road with Central Expressway behind me.”

“Standing at the corner of Wolfe and Arques, looking down Arques to the right. The main entrance was between those palm trees. Twisted yellow I-beams in the foreground and a pair of Caterpiller diggers at the rear center.”

“The flagpole and the address marker, with lettering in "Philips Blue". Large Caterpiller arm behind the orange fence.

THE FOLLOWING PICTURES ARE FROM JUNE 12th 2005

OOps!

Standing just left of the palm trees on Arques, looking through to 440 Wolfe. The big pile is pulverized concrete. June 12th, 2005

Big machines at rest during the weekend, June 12th, 2005

Pulverized concrete pile. It makes sense to reuse it  instead of hauling it away.

Looking down the length of the Arques Road frontage from over near the Kit Kat Club. In the distance is the Fire Department training tower on the other side of Wolfe.

One last shot, looking from the former main entrance , with 440 Wolfe behind the trees on the left..

THE FOLLOWING PICTURES ARE FROM OCTOBER 2005

Standing on Arques, looking towards Wolfe. This is the side of the new Loew's, which will face Wolfe.

Another shot on Arques, looking towards Wolfe. Notice that the palm trees that used to be on Arques
have been MOVED to the new entrance on Wolfe.

Shot of the front of the new store, taken from Wolfe near the palm trees.

THE FOLLOWING PICTURES ARE FROM APRIL 2006

Standing on Arques near the KitKat Club, looking towards Wolfe

Another shot on Arques, looking at the side of the store. Note the building number is still “811”, even though the store faces Wolfe

Shot of the front of the new store, taken from Wolfe on the other side of Arques.

Parking lot is being paved and the inside of the store is being completed

Notice the palm trees on the extreme left that used to be at the front the Philips/Signetics building
